Tony and his wife Carrina lead the team at Pyro International to create displays worth witnessing. We're technical and creative, designing spectacular displays for any and every occasion.


Inspired by many creatives in the event industry worldwide, we've seen how great planning and creative input can bring the wow-factor to an event and make sure it's unforgettable. We're driven to ensure that there are no sub-par pyro efforts here – as we've seen elsewhere far too often!


Together, we have over 25 years of experience in the event industry, and along with a great team of licensed professionals and trainees, we are experts in our field. We're able to provide a wide range of services, including indoor pyro and stage fx for awards nights etc, or outdoor for a seriously impressive limitless display. SFX and Indoor Pyrotechnics

We're available for your awards ceremony, performance, conference, or festival and we have a wide range of product to suit your event - whether it be theatrical flash powders, confetti,mines and comets, C02 Jets, flame units, flash paper, or even air bursts.


Our software and equipment allow us to pre-program your show to ensure accuracy when it comes to firing times. We fire our shows wirelessly so your audience doesn't suspect anything because they've seen the pyro guy creeping around near the stage. We also have the ability to integrate timecodes into all our shows.

Fireworks set to music

When it comes to fireworks, A Pyro-musical (fireworks choreographed to music) is as good as it gets. ​


Pyromusicals are the ultimate kind of display that gives you goosebumps and marks your audience's memory. Pyromuscials are becoming more and more popular worldwide – think London New Year's fireworks on the River Thames – epic! 


You choose the music and we'll pre-program the pyro. Tony has spent a lot of time as a musician and drummer, lighting technician and operator, not to mention his pyro experience, so designing and firing fireworks is his forte. 


We can show you any pre-programmed work via our pre-visualisation software.

Tony Taylor
Head Pyro & Designer

Tony has a strong drive to see pyro done excellently, while catering to our clients specifically. Tony has over 15 years of experience as a pyro, is fully armed with a Level 1, 2 and 3 Certified Handler's and a Controlled Substances License. He's the driving force behind Pyro International, and a reliable one at that.

David Kite​
Senior Technician
​
David has recently acquired his Level 3 licence which is no easy feat. His reliable and dependable nature is what makes working with him a breeze! David is key to outworking our Wellington Diwali and also New Year's Eve shows on the harbour. With barge experience along with the use of indoor pyro he's good to go for our upcoming work.

Linda Read
Senior Technician

Linda has over 10 years of experience with pyro, is a Certified Handler at both Levels 1 and 2, and is a key member of the team. She's our go-to, our most reliable and ready member of the team. She's not to be underestimated – we often see her run rings around the boys at any job!

Joel Martins 
Junior Tech

Joel is a new but valued  member of the team. He has been found on every one of our jobs of late. He's a bit of a conspiracy theorist but we won't hold that against him! Joel also has a background in Lighting and production which makes him super helpful in this industry.

Requirements for Conducting a Fireworks Display

What we require from you 

1. Landowner Permission – We need to ensure that we have permission from the land owner of the location you wish to hold the display (e.g. the council or a private land owner).
If firing off public property such as a park or beach you will most likely need an event permit. We're happy to assist or arrange this for you, if needed. 

2. Budget for your Firework Display – There's literally no end to the amount of money you can throw at a fireworks display so keep our creative minds in check, and give us boundaries if your pockets aren't exactly bottomless! Don't worry though, we are totally transparent and won't throw any unexpected costs at you after the show. We can absolutely stick to a budget.
